10/30/2009 - Fall Fest

2009's Fall Fest was a hit! Students, Faculty, the Administration, and citizens of Nacogdoches all came out to enjoy themselves at RHA's Annual Fall Fest. There were various hall and organization booths where children and adults alike could win prizes and compete in games.  Following Fall Fest was the Annual Haunted House in the Brophy Center.  With an estimated 230+ in attendance at the Haunted House's two hours of operation, this year's Haunted House was truly one that will go down in the books as one of the best we've done.

10/19-10/24/2009 - Homecoming

This year, the Residence Hall Association was busy with Homecoming.  Competing in every activity, RHA won best Organization and three of our eight homecoming candidates got on the final court.  Congratulations to Miles Ward, Senior Duke; Stephanie Gilbreath, Sophomore Duchess; and Kevin Brown, Sophomore Duke.

09/26/2009 - Parents Day 2009

This year's Parents Day, themed "On the Road to Success" brought hundreds of parents, family members, and friends of our Lumberjacks to campus to experience a day in the life of their students here at SFA.  The day began with a Welcome Ceremony, where Dr. Pattillo and Mr. Steve Westbrook spoke on behalf of the administration.  Following the Welcome Ceremony, visitors were encouraged to spend time with their student and were given the option of viewing Disney/Pixar's Cars in the Student Center movie theater, attending a Spirit Rally before the football game, attending the football game (where our Lumberjacks defeated the North Dakota Fighting Sioux), and ended the day with a performance by acclaimed comedian Buzz Sutherland.

08/30/2009 - Casino Night

An annual tradition, Casino Night takes place the Sunday night before the first class day of Fall Semester.  This year's Casino Night was held in the Grand Ballroom.  There were about 700 residents in attendance and prizes, such as iPods, XBOX360s and a Wii, were given away.

08/25/2009-08/30/2009 - Welcome Jacks 2009

Every year, the Residence Hall Association allows a number of residents the opportunity to move-in early and engage in leadership building activities and the chance to meet new people. This year, RHA accepted over 60 residents into the Welcome Jack program.  Activities included axe handle painting, a scavenger hunt, a food fight, painting the Spirit Rock, team builders, Casino Night training, and finally Casino Night.

05/22 - 05/25/2009 - NACURH

Nine delegates from RHA attended the National Association of College and University Residence Halls conference at the University of Arizona in Tucson in late May.  The delegates participated in a number of leadership enhancing activities and had the opportunity to meet students from all across the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

04/27/09 - RHA Annual Awards Banquet

At our Annual Awards Banquet, we announced the Hall Of the Year honors for the 2008-2009 School year.  Winners were: Small Hall of the Year - South Hall; Medium Hall of the Year - Hall 14; Large Hall of the Year - Griffith Hall; and Overall Hall of the Year - Griffith Hall.

03/28/2009 - Showcase Saturday

Every semester prospective students visit our campus on Showcase Saturday.  It is a standing tradition of the Residence Hall Association to assist with tours of the halls on campus.  We had representatives in the halls as well as tents on both sides of campus in order to help prospies and their families find their way around campus.

03/06 - 03/08/2009 - Stay at SFA Weekend

Stay at SFA Weekend is a three day event in which we encourage students to stay on campus and join us for events throughout the weekend.  On Friday, RHA paid for any resident who wished to see a movie sponsored by the Student Activities Association (SAA) in the Baker Patillo Student Center movie theater.  Saturday morning was a time of games and relays such as kickball, volleyball, Potato sack race, Three legged race, and more.  Following the games and relays was the "Speed Eating" contest in which contestants would see who could scarf down their food the fastest.  Then, following an afternoon at the Rec Center, we attended that night's Basketball game.  Sunday afternoon included a campus wide scavenger hunt, which was followed by Iron Chef that evening.  For Iron Chef, each hall prepares an appetizer, an entree, and a dessert in conjunction with the theme of Stay @ SFA Weekend.  This year, the theme was "Kiss Me, I'm a Lumberjack".

02/20 - 02/22/2009 - Leadership Retreat

The Residence Hall Association Leadership Retreat was held at the Piney Woods Conservation Center and lasted from Friday afternoon until Sunday morning.  At the Retreat, Hall Presidents, Committee Chairs, RHA Executives, and our advisor participated in a weekend of learning and leadership.  The theme was "I Was Just a Resident, Now I'm a Leader".
